Bio

 

Mathias is an avid people watcher and loves to paint urban people from all walks of life, often using chiaroscuro techniques.   Presently, her studio is located at 312 Main Street in the Centre for Social & Economic Innovation where she recently had a solo exhibition called, "Eyes Open" in Aug 2021.  She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with distinction in the Fine Arts program in 2012.    She has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Vancouver, Richmond, San Francisco, Miami and Paris.  Mathias speaks French, English and Spanish.  Her public art projects in BC feature large mobiles, mosaic amphitheatres, sidewalks & floors.  In the past 14 years, Michelle Mathias has changed studios 8 times of which 6 have been from development in Vancouver.
