Bio

 

Mathias is an avid people watcher and loves to paint urban people from all walks of life.   Sometimes Mathias paints people from the centre of society and sometimes from the fringes of society.  Presently, her studio is located at 312 Main Street in the Centre for Social & Economic Innovation where her last solo exhibition was called, "Sidewalk Interventions" in July 2024.  She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with distinction in the Fine Arts program in 2012.

 

   She has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Vancouver, Richmond, San Francisco, Miami and Paris.  Mathias speaks French, English and Spanish.  Her public art projects in BC feature large mobiles, mosaic amphitheatres, sidewalks & floors.  In the past 14 years, Michelle Mathias has changed studios 8 times of which 6 have been from development in Vancouver.
